Among Wolves

Shawn Convey’s poetic opera prima is a cinema verité masterpiece. Shot in Bosnia, the film documents the every day existence of a multi-ethnic motorcycle club composed of ex-soldiers and the metaphysical ways in which their existential struggles manifest.

Magical realism has never looked so good.

Still struggling from the aftermath of the war, they could have easily fallen to the outlaw side of biker life. Instead, this multi-ethnic club of war-hardened brothers organizes charity for their small mountain town and defends the threatened herd of wild horses they first met on the frontline. Out there, with the horses, they confront their past and reclaim that territory as a space for healing. ----------------------------------------------- 4/4 ★★★★ “A revelation of character and depth.” – Lynn Felder, Winston-Salem Journal “Among Wolves, with its tale of serenity born of turbulence, is a lovely paean to the indomitable human spirit and its capacity for recovery and growth.” – Christopher Llewellyn Reed, Hammer to Nail “Subliminally powerful.” – Alex Saveliev, Film Threat “Composed with a grace and deliberation rarely seen in documentary. This is visual poetry...a message of hope, quiet, unassuming, magical.” – Jennie Kermode, Eye for Film "A gentle look at recovery from violence." – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter “A touching, unexpected post-war story that will rattle your bones and tug at your heartstrings.” – Luke McLaughlin, Picture This Post “A fascinating, intimate look at modern-day Bosnia, and the unconventional acts of community that work to sustain it.” – Clint Worthington, The Spool “A hypnotic, cinematic poem.” – Ron Wilkinson, It’s Just Movies “A triumph of vision.” – La Butaca Azul “Truly breathtaking.” – A Reel of One’s Own

Poesía sin fin

Without a doubt the most influential figure in México City’s 1960’s avant garde scene (getting his hands dirty on everything from experimental theater, comics and rock’n’roll to film). Jodo’s most recent adventures into video art find him taking his spectacular autobiography into Fellini-esque psychomagic melodrama.

After all that he’s given us, you simply cannot refuse to indulge the guy.
